Abstract

In this project Acridine tagged N-isopropyl benzimidazolium chloride salt was synthesized and characterized. This salt was synthesized in a very good yield by allowing 9-chloro acridine molecule to react with N-isopropyl benzimidazole in toluene under refluxing condition. Further anion exchange reaction was carried out using aqueous KPF6 to yield a significant amount of corresponding PF6 salt. This was also characterized by different NMR-conformational spectra like 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 31P-NMR, 19FNMR and FT-IR as well. The single crystal X-ray analysis debits the existence of п-п stacked solid state packing
