Abstract

Most small scale industries and household complexes in developing countries face a financial dilemma regarding installation of energy saving technologies like smart lighting. Given an initial capital, it is often not clear whether to invest it in such technologies or elsewhere that gives better returns on investment. For example, if the users of the building are suffciently energy conscious to turn of their personal appliances and lights before leaving a room, it can be argued that the initial capital is better invested elsewhere
