Abstract

In my current thesis work, we focus on zinc imidazolin-2-ylidene-N′-phenylthioureatechemistry. Three zinc complexes of molecular formulas [(MeOH)ZnCl2{ImdippNCSN(H)Ph}]7[ZnI2{ImdippNCSN(H)Ph}2]8and [ZnI2{ImmesNCSN(H)Ph}2](9)of rigid symmetrical imidazol-2-ylidene-N’-phenylureate ligand [ImRNCON(H)Ph] 6, (R = Dipp 6a,Mes 6b; dipp = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl; mes = 2,4,6-trimethylpheny)are described. The zinc complexes 7and8can be achieved by the reaction of ZnCl2 and ZnI2respectivelywith neutral ligand 6ain ethanol at ambient temperature. Similarly, zinc complex 9can be achieved by the reaction of ZnI2and ligand 6b. The solid state structure of the complexes 7,8and 9were established by single crystal X –ray diffraction analysis, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. In the solid state structure, two complexes 8and 9are double unit ligatedin nature and 7is monomer. All three compounds are formed by the ligation of Sulphur atom present in the ligand system along with two halogen atoms. Thus, overall zinc atom is tetra coordinated and the geometry can be described as a distorted tetrahedral.
