Abstract

Multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) antenna systems have been preferred over single-input, single-output (SISO) antenna systems due to increased channel capacity. Capacity approaching schemes have been designed for MIMO systems that work well in both open-loop and close-loop scenarios at operating signal- to-noise ratio (SNR). In downlink multi user MIMO (MU-MIMO) systems, the transmit antennas are distributed to multiple users. When multiple users coop- erate, single user MIMO schemes can be employed. However, as multiple users are located at different places, user cooperation is not expected and channel state information (CSI) is required from all users to the transmitter for eliminating the interuser and interstream interference.
